FREAK SHOW Group Exhibition

แรงบันดาลใจมาจากการที่ได้รู้จักกับสิ่งแปลกประหลาดต่างๆซึ่งไม่น่าจะมาอยู่ร่วมกันได้ แต่กลับมารวมตัวกัน และยังเกิดเป็นโชว์ที่มีสเน่ห์ดึงดูดภายในคณะละครสัตว์ ซึ่งเรียกกันว่า ‘FREAK SHOW’

จึงเกิดเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการที่ศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ทั้ง 4 คนได้แก่ ONG, KOWUT, WARHEAD และ MAMABLUES ได้มารวมตัวกันโดยที่แต่ละคนนั้นก็มีเอกลักษณ์ของผลงาน รวมไปถึงรูปแบบในการทำงานศิลปะแตกต่างกันเพื่อจัดงานแสดงร่วมกันเป็นครั้งแรก และด้วยคอนเซ็ปต์ ‘FREAK SHOW’ นี้เองที่จะรวมความแตกต่างของทั้ง 4 คนเข้าด้วยกัน

PhotoBangkok: Weatherproof Exhibition

นิทรรศการภาพถ่ายร่วมสมัย weatherproof เป็นการรวบรวมภาพถ่ายของศิลปินไทย 6 คน ได้แก่ อังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ แดนสรวง สังวรเวชภัณฑ์ มิติ เรืองกฤตยา ราสิเกติ์ สุขกาล ศุภกร ศรีสกุล และ วิทิต จันทามฤต บนเรื่องราวจริงจากปรากฏการณ์ธรรมชาติที่เกิดขึ้นนับแต่เหตุการณ์สึนามิ (พ.ศ. 2547) เหตุการณ์อุทกภัย (พ.ศ. 2554) เหตุการณ์แผ่นดินไหว (พ.ศ. 2557) ที่นำมาสู่การสูญเสียอย่างมหาศาลโดยที่ประมาณการไม่ได้

ปรากฏการณ์ธรรมชาติแม้จะเป็นสิ่งที่ไม่อาจหลีกเลี่ยงหรือพยากรณ์ล่วงหน้าได้ แต่ผลที่เกิดจากปรากฏการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเหล่านี้ได้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความล้มเหลวที่ซ้ำซากของการจัดการที่บกพร่อง ขาดประสิทธิภาพอย่างที่สุด ภาพที่ปรากฏต่อสาธารณะจึงหนีไม่พ้นภาพของความสูญเสีย ความโหดร้ายที่ซ้ำเติมครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า

แต่กระนั้น ศิลปินทั้ง 6 คนกลับนำเสนอแง่มุมที่ปรากฏเบื้องหลังโศกนาฏกรรมเหล่านี้ ผลงานภาพถ่ายที่สะท้อนถึงมิติทางสุนทรียะที่ไม่สามารถพบเห็นได้ในสภาวการณ์ปกติ ราวกับว่าต้องการจะกลบวลีอมตะที่ว่า เอาอยู่ … เอาอยู่ … เอาอยู่ …

“Game: Part I” Exhibition Opening – Liam Morgan

Using a single piece of equipment, half hunting-rifle and half camera, Morgan rides open-air trains around rural Thailand shooting at each buffalo he passes.

In this first installment of Game, this exhibition of hand-printed black-and-white photographs, the act of shooting becomes as important as the resulting imagery; each picture is informed by the system in which it was created.

It can be taken as self-reflexive: allegorical of the medium as well as dealing with temporal and compositional concerns in the still image. But the specific symbolism points outwards, to collective human myths and the conflict inherent there. To the Us and to the Them.

The narrative builds on the given symbolic connotations of the buffalo and the shooting of that animal from trains. Accordingly, the work deals with notions of power and violence in Morgan’s (semi-) constructed idyll.

For his lack of capillary bravery, he makes it up with a daring selection of club tunes designed for maximum dancefloor effect. With monthly residencies across the Bangkok map, BadMotel is his next stop to deliver some techno goodness.

KingKong:

Closing down this opening party, ladies and gentlemen, the one and only : King Kong. You may know DJ King Kong for his heavyweight (HA! HA!) Drum’n’Bass DJ sets, yet do not underestimate the beast when it comes to his new style of choice: techno. Stomping beats and one goal: tearing the floor to bits until the next party.
